葛吉夫（G. I. Gurdjieff ,1866～1949），曾经游学印度、西藏、埃及、麦加、苏丹、伊拉克，1912年在莫斯科与圣彼得堡成立修行团体，1917年俄国大革命，葛吉夫率领弟子到土耳其的君士坦丁堡，成立修行机构。1922年定居法国巴黎枫丹白露。他宣称“第四道”并非他发明的，而是渊自久远的古老智慧。葛吉夫博杂广大的密意知识经由大弟子邬斯宾斯基整理后，体系更加条理分明。
